After 14 years at e-office I have decided to leave the company.
I will start my own business as an independent software developer / consultant at elstar IT.
When I started at e-office in 2000, I didn’t know much about Lotus Notes. After 2 month as an Administrator, I found the world of Application Development more compelling.
So I made the switch and became certified Advanced Application Developer 5 and higher.
Started very early with XPages, when they came along. I remember my 2 days workshop at IBM Zurich with the Tim Clark as host.
I did, and still do, a lot of Domino and XPages great projects at e-office and now it is time to move on… and a dive into a whole new adventure.
1st of September is the day to start for real, so I can finalise everything at e-office and have decent holiday with the family somewhere in Europe.
And off course to organise everything to make a head start.
So if you need a XPages/Java/Web developer, please contact me.
On my blog I will post updates about the progress and my contact details, http://www.elstarit.nl
Good luck. I made this move seven years ago, and it’s scary but fun.
Things that are suddenly important:
– cashflow.
– proper accounting (i.e. set aside money for paying your taxes in the year where the income happens)
– self discipline
– constantly finding new jobs.
If you get stuck, i’m more than happy to help.
Andrew
Congratulations with the decision. As Andrew says, a new world of challenges and joys open up….![😉](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/svg/1f609.svg)
I took the step in 1998 – although there has been difficult times, I still enjoy it – and wouldn’t have done differently.
Good luck!
